"The city of David," or Zion of David Jewish Jerusalem's oldest residential neighborhood, was once located on a narrow ridge to the South-East of the present Old Town, bounded to the East by the valley of Kidron, and from the North Wall. Today the archaeological Park "City of David" is probably the most important tourist attraction of the old town. Finds, archaeological discoveries made within the walls of Zion of David, were of paramount importance in the history of the Jewish people.

Archaeological research of this town began quite late (only in the mid-nineteenth century), when scientists first managed to gain access to the secrets of the Holy Land. After the first expedition, and over the next 110 years, in the City of David, there were 7 different archeological expeditions.
Recent studies have been conducted here in the late 70's and early 80-ies of XX century foreign scientists. Divided in areas the walls and towers of the city of David, was a huge area for discovery.
