The Holy city Jerusalem with the Temple Mount are named in the Holy Scriptures Zion. Zion name of the entire Land of Israel. The first time the word Zion referred to when describing the conquest of Jerusalem by King David. In those days, narrow and very vicious circle, consisting of several hills that lie South of the Temple mount, was under the jurisdiction of the Jebusites. Then it became Jerusalem city of David, the mountain got its original name.

At the time of Jesus, this hill was at the limit of the walls of the city, and came to celebrate the Jewish Passover. There, in one of the houses, according to legend, the apostles rented a room in the upper floor of the building. The room in which will come the most important for the Christian world the events described in the Scriptures. At that place was built first on earth the Basilica of Holy Zion, later called "the Mother of all Churches", where the legend was born the first Christian community. After the destruction in the early 13th century, the building was rebuilt. All except the tomb of King David, was almost completely destroyed. King David, the Muslims revered, and in the early 15th century generally expelled from the building and Christians and Jews, transforming it into a mosque. Today's Catholic Basilica, built according to legend in place of the assumption of our lady, was built in the early 20th century. The entire complex of buildings on mount Zion, became the property of Israel in 1948. From that time to this day on the first floor of the synagogue (the Tomb of King David) on the second floor – Holy for Christians the upper room (Cenacle)- a place of memories and prayers, acts, the Catholic Church and Church of St. Peter.
